Run A/B tests from Chrome or ChatGPT: introducing RunPivot's extension and plugin
Today we're launching the RunPivot Chrome extension and the RunPivot plugin for ChatGPT. Edit your live site directly, or run your A/B tests from a chat.
A test idea usually shows up while you're looking at the page, or while you're asking why a number moved. Both of those moments used to end with opening another tool and starting a brief. Now the A/B test can start right there.
What does the RunPivot Chrome extension do?
The RunPivot Chrome extension is a visual A/B testing editor that opens in a side panel beside your live site. It reads the page and suggests what to test. Click any element to change copy, layout, or CTAs, refine the agent's variants by hand, and launch with full control.
How to start a test from Chrome
- Add it to Chrome. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.
- Set up your account. Onboarding opens on its own once it's installed.
- Test any page. The editor opens beside your site in the side panel.
Can you run A/B tests from ChatGPT?
Yes. Connect the RunPivot plugin in ChatGPT and ask how your site is doing. From there, one conversation can take you all the way to a live test:
- Find the friction. Ask what's getting in the way, and RunPivot looks through your heatmaps and session replays.
- Draft the test. Turn what it found into an experiment, and generate the variant in the visual editor. You can still point and click to tweak anything.
- Predict the winner. Run the idea past AI shoppers with Simulations before you spend real traffic. The result is a prediction, not a measured lift.
- Launch and ask. Launch the test, then come back to the chat and ask how it went.
Chrome extension or ChatGPT plugin: which should you use?
Use the Chrome extension when you want to edit the page yourself. Use the ChatGPT plugin when you want to start from a question and let RunPivot build the experiment.
| Chrome extension | ChatGPT plugin | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | Side panel beside your live site | A ChatGPT conversation |
| How you start | Click an element on the page | Ask how your site is doing |
| Best for | Hands-on control over each change | Going from a question to a test |
| Finding what to test | Agent suggestions for the page you're on | Friction from heatmaps and replays |
| Editing variants | Point, click, and edit any element | Generated for you, then editable in the visual editor |
| Checking results | RunPivot dashboard | Ask in the chat, or use the dashboard |
What can you test? Examples by team
These are example requests to show the kind of test each team might start with. Use them as a prompt in ChatGPT, or as a starting point in the extension.
Ecommerce
Test product pages, checkout, and offers. For example: "Move the reviews next to Add to cart on this product page and test it against the original."
SaaS and growth teams
Test onboarding, pricing, and activation without waiting on engineering. For example: "Why are visitors leaving the pricing page, and what should we test first?"
Agencies
Manage client experiments, replays, and reporting in one workspace. For example: "How are this client's experiments doing this week?"
Product and engineering teams
Ship variants from a prompt, and keep feature flags and safe rollouts in place. For example: "Draft a test for a shorter signup form."
Finance and enterprise
Prove revenue impact with experiment-level reporting, and run governed tests with approvals, audit trails, and role-based access. For example: "Which of our tests had the biggest effect on revenue?"
What's in the launch video
The video above walks through the Chrome extension on a sample print store. Times are approximate.
- 0:10 A control and a variant of the same product page, side by side.
- 0:30 The extension reads the page and writes suggestions in the side panel.
- 0:40 A persona simulation compares both versions. It's ideal for low traffic, or when you need answers fast.
- 0:50 The RunPivot dashboard shows lift, visitors in tests, and conversions.
- 1:00 Session replay turns what it finds into your next test.
What's next
We're building Claude and Grok plugins too. They're coming soon. Until then, see how RunPivot compares with other A/B testing tools, or read how a pricing page test lifted demo bookings by 58%.
